If the learners are familiar to the subject or topic which they are going to learn under CLIL then the approach is void, the subject or topic can be anything but it should be new to the learner.

Example of CLIL Approach

Imagine yourself in a cooking class which is in a foreign language like Spanish or French initially when you listen to the words like “CUCHARA” (Spanish) or “CUILLERE” (French) repeatedly said by the chef you will little uncomfortable or boring as you are not familiar with those words and you try to observe the body language and gestures of the chef so that you can understand the class and the language. After some when you come across the meaning of those foreign language words you feel happy and in the next class you want to apply the words “CUCHARA” (Spanish) or “CUILLERE” (French) which means a spoon.

This context-based approach and visual cues provide the learners a natural way of learning experience and language acquisition which mirrors the learning of native language.
